Children's digital addiction: Disrupting education.

Children's addiction to modern technology including mobile phones is increasing day by day. Many parents are willingly handing their children updated digital technology in the name of modernity. Many people do not think that in some cases the excessive attraction to technology is suicidal for children and teenagers. But researchers say that excessive use of technology in childhood can have long-term harmful effects on people's lives. As a result, children's education and healthy mental development can be disrupted.

Recently, scientists from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Canadian Society of Pediatrics have given a clear idea of what age a child should be exposed to technology. They said children should be kept away from all gadgets before the age of two. At that age, when children are used to the Internet, iPads or television, they are restless by nature, and in many cases, they have less hearing.

According to scientists, three to five-year-olds should never be in contact with mobile phones, televisions, i Pads, laptops, televisions, etc. for more than one hour a day, even if they start little by little after two years. Six to 18-year-olds can avoid harm if they spend a maximum of two hours a day around those things. When used to these, many children become abnormally fat. It has various harmful effects on life. The risk of diabetes or heart disease also increases in children.

The study also says that due to the use of gadgets, children get ideas about sex, terrorism, etc. very early. As a result, many children become very aggressive. Some children grow up and get involved in many things without understanding what is right or wrong. This has affected their mental development and education.

Apart from this, many people start suffering from mental depression at a very young age due to excessive use of these gadgets. There is also a risk of becoming mentally ill. According to a survey, this problem has started to become quite evident in Canada. At least one in six children there need regular medication to regain mental normalcy as a result of excessive gadget use.

Researchers say that before the advent of mobile devices, children could make rapid progress in education. Children who are used to smart mobile phones, tablets or other such devices for several years now progress very slowly in learning. It has been found that one-third of such children have serious problems in their academic life. Scientists have found that 60 percent of children's parents these days hand over mobiles or other gadgets to their young children. 75% of children's parents then do not know when their child sleeps at night. Without the knowledge of the parents, the child causes insomnia.

Addiction has reached such a level that even children cannot be kept away from these gadgets. Recently in India, a 9-year-old child stabbed himself with a knife after his parents refused to give him a smartphone to prevent gadget addiction.

Forties National Mental Health Council Chairperson and Consultant Dr. According to Samir Parij, there are a variety of apps being developed for children these days. As a result, children are becoming proficient in handling various devices easily. According to him, there is a growing trend among parents these days to keep children busy by letting them use devices. Various audio-visuals are helping parents to manage their children properly. But this temporary relief is adversely affecting them in the long run.

Parents are giving these gadgets to children in our country like outside world. Many parents do this these days to keep their children calm or busy. These habits that are developed from the age of one-two years of children cannot be reined in later. As the days go by, they become so addicted to many media including social media that many teenagers are not backing down even from deadly games like Blackhole. Most of the parents are very awake with their children today due to disruption of normal sleep due to staying awake at night reading online.

Talked to Shahidul Islam, principal of Uttara Milestone College, about children's addiction to gazettes. He said that this urban lifestyle and the invasion of technology is playing a lethal role during the growing period of the child. Although the mentioned advantages of technology are only a few beneficiaries in the case of adult boys and girls, in most cases they are also very much disturbed by seeing distorted sex scenes in normal life.

He also said that the side effects of using a smartphone and the internet outweigh the benefits. Parents are handing over phones to their kids to keep them busy. Instead, they should encourage children to participate in skill development programs. In this case, knowing the child's problems closely, ensuring a positive environment for him, setting time limits for mobile use and encouraging constructive hobbies. He thinks that these are good ways to keep them away from this addiction.

He said, at least one day a week should be avoided from using mobile phones. Family members need to find time for bonding. The role that is supposed to be played as a parent should be performed properly. According to him, now is the right time to curb gadget addiction.

Recently, the United Nations International Organization UNICEF said in a survey that 175,000 children around the world are making their debut as new Internet users every day. This means that every 30 seconds a child enters the world of the Internet for the first time. The organization says that every day a large number of children are entering the world of the Internet for the first time, while using the Internet is creating various risks for them.

UNICEF believes that everyone has a responsibility to protect children from harmful content online. In this case, the government, family and educational institutions should come forward. Besides, those who are involved in the business of technology industry also have a big role in this. Children need to be taught how to stay safe online.
